Wholesome North is the spice brand of Ceylon Valley Inc., a Canadian company registered in Ajax, Ontario. Ceylon Valley imports the spices; Wholesome North is the name on the pouch and on our listings. If you have bought Wholesome North cinnamon or cloves on Amazon.ca, this is the same company.

We buy from a single certified organic processor rather than from a broker. That matters more than it sounds. Spices are usually pooled: bark and buds from many smallholdings are blended, graded and resold, and by the time a pouch reaches a shelf in Ontario there is no meaningful answer to the question of where it grew. Buying from one processor means each shipment can be traced to its batch, and each batch arrives with its own certificate of analysis and organic documentation.

What we specify

• Species. Cinnamomum verum for all cinnamon. Never cassia, never blended.
• Grade. Quill grade is named on every product page, because it changes the size and appearance of what arrives.
• Cloves. Current-season, hand-picked, minimum seventy percent heads. Not FAQ grade.
• Certification. Certified organic, with documentation supplied per batch.
• Packing. Packed at origin in resealable kraft pouches, so the spice is not re-handled in transit.
